The 2016 Air Expo was held at the N.C. Arboretum on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Students were recognized for their entries in the 2015-2016 AQ-IQ Contest sponsored by the N.C. Division of Air Quality. The contest was open to all 7th graders. Students participated in the Western North Carolina Regional contest. Students were to highlight air quality issues and provide solutions. Projects were divided into 4 categories: artistic, games, posters, videos. Seventeen CCMS students received 12 recognition awards for their outstanding work. The Altrusa District Spelling Bee was held last night at AB Tech. We are pleased to announce that our Team A won first place. Competing on Team A were Erik D. from Mr. Koch’s homeroom, Ava M. from Ms. Jacobelly’s homeroom, and Leah M. from Ms. Warden’s homeroom. Team A did not miss a word during the entire spelling bee. We are also pleased to announce that our Team B took second place. Competing on Team B were Jackson H. from Ms. Herndon’s homeroom, Ansley W. from Ms. Jacobelly’s homeroom, and Joey O. from Ms. Warden’s homeroom. Congratulations to these fine spellers.
